Buffy the Vampire Slayer novels are Buffy the Vampire Slayer tie-ins prose books. They were either original or novelization stories, published since 1997.
Originally under the Pocket Books imprint of Simon & Schuster, most titles were then published under Simon Pulse division. The list of licensed novels also includes publications from Dark Horse Comics, Scholastic, Penguin Random House, Titan Books, Insight Editions, Quirk Books, and Disney's Hyperion Avenue Books.
With the exception of miniseries, there is no sequence in relation to one novel to another. The publication order of novels does not follow any chronology of events as well. Each book acts like a story to happen in various chronological places of the television series, although with nonexistent or dubious canonical value.
Similarly, the Angel television series had the Angel novels, which Buffy crossed over with a series of Crossover novels.
