Buffy the Vampire Slayer #6 is the sixth issue of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2019) comic book series. Written by Jordie Bellaire and illustrated by David López, it was originally published on July 3, 2019, by Boom! Studios.

Synopsis[]

Nothing will ever be the same after the attack on Xander. But with the Mistress Drusilla and Spike closer to opening the Hellmouth, Buffy is out of time to save her friend — and everyone else in Sunnydale![1]

Summary[]

Giles has sent Buffy and Willow deep into the forest to find a Soul Tie to help Xander. As they fight off giant bugs, the two girls discuss Xander's siring. Willow blames herself for what happened to Xander. Buffy insists it is Drusilla's fault only, and that she targeted Xander because she knew he was helping the Slayer. With the bugs dead, Buffy and Willow continue following their ancient map, until a newcomer approaches.

Meanwhile, Jenny meditates at Giles's house, keeping up the spell to bind Xander. Jenny chastises Giles for being too hard on Buffy. Giles insists he is doing the right thing by not coddling Buffy, because he knows she is "immensely strong, intelligent, and selfless." As they speak, Xander wakes up in tears. He's had a vision of a coming horror: Drusilla's plan to open the Hellmouth.

Back in the forest, Buffy and Willow are perplexed to see Robin, who claims to have used a friend location app to check on them, since they did not turn up at school. Willow and Buffy have a quiet argument about his appearance. Willow urges Buffy to make Robin leave, fearing he will get hurt. Buffy becomes defensive about her crush on Robin. As they argue about Buffy's pride, Robin points their attention to the statue coming to life behind them.

The statue, actually a demon, seems to believe there are four people present, and Robin corrects her. Willow asks for her help. The demon claims to be able to create a Soul Tie, but she will need a soul in order to create one. Willow volunteers hers, and the Siphon declares that Willow has "a soul big enough for two," then complies before Buffy can object. Buffy is indignant, but the demon reprimands her for underestimating her friends, saying that not everything is about the Slayer.

Xander describes what he saw to Jenny and Giles, including an ancient Egyptian dagger and lots of fire. Giles and Jenny explain that there are Hellmouths all over the world, including one in Sunnydale. Buffy, Robin, and Willow arrive, with Buffy supporting a weakened Willow. Willow then coughs up a glowing blue stone, revealing that she is connected to the Soul Tie. Giles ushers Robin outside, telling him to forget what he saw. Buffy runs after Robin, gives him a hug, and thanks him for his help. Robin tells Buffy he wants to be there for her. Once Buffy returns inside, Robin gets a text from The Council asking if he is in. Robin replies that he is.
