Kendra, Rose, and Robin get to know each other while eating at Tunaverse. Kendra is jealous that Rose grew up with a parent in the military, and she tells them that she doesn't know who her dad is, but that there are more important things than her deadbeat father. Robin gets fed up with their talking, accusing them of acting like they're on a date and bringing up Rose's girlfriend. While Kendra scolds him for being rude, Rose corrects him—Willow broke up with her. Rose is also hurt that Willow didn't tell her about any Slayer-related stuff, so that she had to learn everything from Kendra and Robin. Robin yells that they're ignoring what's important. When Kendra tries to stop him from leaving, he tells her that he doesn't need her.

Rose is surprised by Robin's behavior, telling Kendra that he is usually very sweet. Kendra says that he might be frustrated that she is there instead of Buffy. Rose is still shocked that she hadn't known that Buffy was connected to the supernatural events going on. Kendra tells her that the Slayer is supposed to remain a secret, but that they don't have time for secrecy right now. The next step, Kendra says, is to rest and regroup tomorrow with everyone connected to Buffy. Rose offers Kendra a place to stay, but Kendra says Slayers don't ask for help.

In the cemetery, Xander complains about doing night patrol so often now that Buffy's gone. Willow is worried about Buffy too, but when she mentions Robin, Xander snaps that he is tired of hearing about him and about all of Willow's problems. Willow is offended by Xander's rudeness, and their argument escalates until Xander vamps out. In his vamp-face, Xander immediately calms down, and the two of them admit they're not sure why they're fighting. Xander notices that he's been angry a lot lately, but it goes away when he's a vampire. This worries Willow, and Xander says that when he is human, it's like something dark calls to him. He fears he might hurt Willow if he didn't have his vampirism to fall back on.

Kendra attacks, telling Xander to get away from Willow. As they struggle, Xander and Willow try to explain that Xander isn't a normal vampire, with Xander demonstrating his human face as Kendra pins him to the ground. Kendra accuses Willow of being a vampire groupie, and Xander asks who Kendra is, since Sunnydale already has a Slayer. Kendra claims to be the new Slayer, confusing Willow as she tries to stop her from staking Xander. Robin appears, announcing that Buffy is dead. Buffy's death, he explains, is the only way for a new Slayer to be activated. He reminds them that he told them to get used to the idea of Buffy being gone. Willow and Xander are horrified and disbelieving. Robin explains that he knows because he is a Watcher, and, in tears, he yells that he didn't want this to happen either.

Robin tells Kendra that they should leave, and she retorts that he is too emotional to be a Watcher. He stops Kendra from killing Xander, but she throws him to the ground, angry that he would put his hands on her. As they start to fight, Robin reveals that he has been training his entire life, and he's furious that the Council never chose him to be a Slayer, even though his mother was one. He feels he has lost everything and wants to know what is so special about Kendra that she would be chosen as a Slayer and not him.

Robin acts more and more unhinged, his eyes turning bloodshot. He tells Xander to join "us," saying that they are one soul. Something comes over Xander until he reveals his vamp-face again. In this state, he is able to explain to Willow and Kendra that something was calling to his half-soul. He is wanted as part of an army, Robin reveals to them as more possessed men emerge from the shadows. Kendra is ready to fight, but Robin says they cannot stop the Hellmother. Just when Xander tells Willow this may be their finale, someone hits Robin on the head with a mallet. It's Anya.

Summary

Kendra, Rose, and Robin get to know each other while eating at Tunaverse. Kendra is jealous that Rose grew up with a parent in the military, and she tells them that she doesn't know who her dad is, but that there are more important things than her deadbeat father.
