A brotherhood of seven demons assumed the form of young humans. Every seven years, they sought out human brains and hearts to maintain their human form; otherwise, the demon would revert to their true visage.[1]

History[]

At some point, the brotherhood came into conflict with the demon hunter Sid and cursed him to have his soul trapped in a dummy, a curse that only all their deaths could break.[1]

Over the next decades years, Sid hunted down the brotherhood, killing six and tracking the last, Marc, to Sunnydale. Sid teamed up with student Morgan in an attempt to find the last demon and came to believe it was Buffy due to her unnatural strength.[1]

Sid and Buffy eventually learned the truth about each other and teamed up to finish Marc. The Scooby Gang discovered Marc was targeting Giles for his brain and rushed to his rescue in time to stop him. Without the brain, Marc reverted to his demonic form and fought the Slayer until Xander used a guillotine to behead him. Knowing that wasn't enough to finish the demon, Sid stabbed Marc in the heart, killing him. With the last of the brotherhood of seven demons dead, Sid's curse broke; as his body had been long gone, Sid died too.[1]

Characteristics[]

Marc

Marc, one of the members of the brotherhood.

To maintain their human appearance, these demons needed a healthy heart and brain every seven years. Buffy found that Morgan's brain, which had a tumor, was discarded as it was inedible for Marc.[1]

The brotherhood were spellcasters and successfully performed a curse on Sid. They also possessed superhuman strength in their demon form, as Marc was able to smash his way out of a coffin and, as a human, he needed to use a knife to collect the organs while his demonic claws would've been sufficient enough.[1]

Based on Marc's point of view, these demons appeared to view the world in a purplish hue.[1]

Unlike most demons, who could be killed by decapitation, the members of the brotherhood could survive it, though it incapacitated them for a time. The only way to kill one was to destroy their heart.[1]
