Bibeau's Compendium of Gorgons and Stone Demons was a demonology book on gargoyles. Rupert Giles had his own copy stored at the Magic Box shop.[1]
History[]
In 2001, Giles trapped himself on a cage in the Magic Box's basement to protect himself from two gargoyles after him. Concluding it had took some powerful magic to bring the creatures to life, Giles then had Buffy Summers to retrieve him his copy of Bibeau's Compendium, with the intention to find out the certain magics required to revert the gargoyles to their natural state.[1]
Buffy found the book in off-limits area upstairs to the shop and, referring to it as "Bilbo's compendium of gore things and stone whatchamacallits," returned it to Giles. Reading the compendium, he found out that gargoyles are susceptible to Gornon venom; a stake dipped in the venom should be sufficient to dispatch them, but using the wrong venom would made them so powerful that they become undefeatable, so a test observing the strong reaction of the correct venom against anything of gargoyle origin could be made.[1]
