Angelwings

A battle took over at the Crawford Street mansion to prevent the end of the world.[1]

History[]

Background[]

After Giles was kidnapped in an ambush at the library, Buffy knew it was only a matter of time before Angel awakened the Acathla and end the world. Spike, jealous of the relationship between Angel and Drusilla, sought Buffy and offered an alliance. He agreed to help her if she allowed him and Drusilla to leave town.[1]

While searching for Giles at his house, Buffy met Whistler, who told her that only Angel's blood would seal Acathla again. Armed with a blessed sword, Buffy went to the mansion at Crawford Street to prevent the end of the world.[1]

Willow, recovered from her injuries, wanted to try the Ritual of Restoration again on Angel. She sent Xander to tell Buffy, but, once he reached her, he withheld that information.[1]

The battle[]

Having gained the information on the awakening ritual from Giles, Angel began the ritual, with Spike (still pretending to need a wheelchair), Drusilla, and two vampire minions watching. Buffy interrupted the ritual, beheading one of the minions. Angel was blindsided by Spike as Buffy began fighting the second minion. Drusilla attacked Spike, and the two vampires began fighting.[1]

Meanwhile, Xander reached Giles and helped him escape the mansion. While Buffy killed the last minion, Angel came to and grabbed the sword attached to Acathla. Drusilla, distracted in awe by Acathla's awakening, was knocked out by Spike, and he drove them out of Sunnydale.[1]

Buffy and Angel used their two swords to duel around the mansion. At one point, Angel gained the upper hand, but Buffy stopped the lethal blow. Buffy gained ground and disarmed Angel in front of Acathla. Before she could deliver the killing blow, Willow completed the Ritual of Restoration, and Angel's soul was restored.[1]

Angel was confused by his surroundings. Buffy embraced Angel and saw behind him the portal opening to Acathla's dimension. Buffy kissed Angel, had him close his eyes, and impaled him and Acathla with the blessed sword. The portal absorbed Angel before closing again.[1]

Aftermath[]

Buffy left Sunnydale[1] to Los Angeles, forcing other members of the Scooby Gang to take up her role in slaying vampires in the following summer.[2]

Once they arrived in South America, Drusilla broke up with Spike, accusing of being in love with Buffy[3] due to the truce they formed for the battle.[4]

While Angel was in the hell dimension for a few months on Earth, time passed quicker in the dimension and he suffered torments for about a hundred years.[5][6] He was eventually released back to Earth by unknown circumstances.[7]
