April Levine was an asylum patient at Los Angeles, and attempted to refuse hurting others even as one of the Brides of Rakagore.
Biography[]
In 1996, April met Buffy Summers at the asylum in which both were committed, during a group therapy. Buffy described her mission as the Slayer, so April sought her to ask for her help. According to her, she was a Bride of Rakagore, wed to the Rakagore so she would eat the souls of the just. As she had mentioned during the group therapy, she supposed it was a great honor, but it made her feel cheap, and didn’t want to be responsible for the death of all life on Earth.[1]
April revealed to Buffy she was not taking her medicine, who in turn was working on believing that being a Slayer was just a delusion, so she refused to help her. This made April attack Buffy, screaming that she should help her slaying her. April was released from the asylum in the same night.[1]
Less than forty-eight hours later, April was walking the streets when she suddenly attacked a boy passing by, while screaming about being a bride. During the attack, she suddenly came to her senses, and was devastated by what she had done. Determined to not hurt anyone else, April ran into the traffic, to be ran over by a truck.[2] She was hospitalized and survived the incident,[3] but it convinced Buffy to investigate her story and discover not only Rakagore was real, but her own identity as the Slayer.[2]
