After the Fall, also known as Angel Season 6, is an Angel comic book series from IDW Publishing, originally published from November 2007 to February 2009. It is the canonical continuation of the fifth and final season of Angel television series.
THIS IS IT! The official continuation of the ANGEL series! When last we saw Angel and company, they were charging into battle against Wolfram & Hart's Senior Partners and facing down endless demons in a dark and rainy alleyway. Picking up where Season Five of the fan-favorite TV show ended, the first issue in this maxi-series looks at who lived after that climactic battle, who died, and what happened to all of Los Angeles in its wake.
Between the array of new enemies and fallen former friends — not to mention the state of Los Angeles itself — can Angel possibly find a reason to go on? And can some familiar faces help provide that reason?
As it turned out, Angel didn't end up slaying the dragon after all. But maybe Illyria will! After a brutal Illyria/Angel throwdown, it's goddess versus giant, fire-breathing reptile, and a huge reveal that no one will see coming.
As the first chapter in this epic tale reaches its penultimate point, Angel issues a challenge to someone — a lot of someones, actually — that he can't possibly win. Meanwhile, Spike considers changing sides as this hellish new status quo presents some opportunities he can't pass up. And we promise a shock ending more explosive than even those of the first three issues.
Everything he had was taken away from him. But now, in his darkest hour, Angel is taking it back. The battle lines are drawn, sides are chosen, and Angel takes a stand that will change everything and everyone close to him.
First Night begins! What happened on the very night Los Angeles went straight to hell, the incident that ended the Angel television series with such a shocking cliffhanger? Why did the team go their separate ways? And how did Connor rise up to become one of Hell's greatest champions? This first issue of a two-part series-within-a-series has the answers you've been waiting for!

Meanwhile, Spike has something important to tell Wesley, Illyria has a new role, and what the hell is Gunn keeping in the basement?
Last issue, Angel and Gunn were reunited. Unsurprisingly, it didn't go very well, and it's about to get worse. Gunn's master plan has comes to light, and it not only does it have horrifying repercussions for Angel and his friends, it could spell disaster for all of Los Angeles.

With the publication of Spike: Asylum in 2006, editor Chris Ryall received an email from Joss Whedon saying that Byan Lynch had "hit a home run" and that the miniseries convinced him to revisit Angel's story. Whedon then encountered with Lynch and told him where he and the other Angel writers had planned to take the series had it returned for a sixth season, "including ideas that they weren't going to try, but he always kind of liked, in case I wanted to grab little pieces from it." As a fan of Betta George in the miniseries, Whedon suggested he make a return appearance in After the Fall as well, despite his apparent death.
