You may watch Angel after Buffy, as Angel overall functions as its own show. However, there are some events from Buffy that explain or lead into occurrences on Angel and vice versa. These occurrences mostly happen during Buffy seasons 4 and 7/Angel seasons 1 and 4. Also, some events from Buffy's series finale carry into Angel season 5. If you are confused about certain events or need to know how/when the shows crossover, the Fandom guide for the episodes could help. Since you are within the last two (televised) seasons of Buffy, I would enjoy them and then watch Angel.

I recently finished rewatching Buffy and started rewatching Angel. Both series are still as entertaining as they were when I saw their originally broadcasted runs. I would highly recommend watching both Buffy and Angel. If you are watching both series for the first time, you would have to follow a guide to know when the series crossover; some Buffy episodes continue on Angel and vice versa. The bulk of the crossover episodes occur during season four of Buffy and season one of Angel. However, some important events unfold in season four of Angel that continue in season seven of Buffy. Therefore, using an episode guide for both series would make the experience more enjoyable and explain some events or character appearances.
