No! If the reboot declares itself as the "new canon," we'll probably treat the new series as an alternative reality.

It’s a reboot sequel that is canon just like the comics so no it’s not the new canon

The comics are now non-canon (thank God). It's indisputable and this Wiki needs to start shoving the content into non-canon or alternate universe sections. The revival is the 100% dominant continuity over anything in any comic or book. Joss himself long ago stated that the comics would be non-canon if there were to be a televised revival. He outright called the Twilight arc fanfiction (regarding the Seed) and admitted to forgetting the show's continuity in regard to his own mistakes (Warren).

And on top of that, there are about to be a new slate of comics that are presumably meant to be tie-ins, though it remains to be seen how closely it will tie into the new continuity.

It'll take a lot of work, but this Wiki really needs to come around to the idea that it's going to need to create alternate universe pages or non-canon sections for pretty much every character whose continuation by IDW/Dark Horse will no longer have happened. The Chosen spell's aftermath is going to be the first thing the revival will likely retcon hard and fast. Buffy's new history will almost certainly be extremely altered from the comics, even if information about other characters affected isn't extensive soon into the revival.

That's not how canon works. Disliking something doesn't make it non-canon, and assumptions about a series that doesn't even exist yet don't make it canon.

Whatever happened before is already canon. Whatever comes after that has to prove itself.

*That* is not how canon works. Canon has levels of precedence. In this case, what is televised is the prime canon. Everything else is secondary. This spinoff is about to demote every one of these comics to non-canon tie-in materials.

I realize you've devoted over a decade to believing these comics to be canon (despite the creator himself declaring that he'd throw these comics out himself if there were ever a televised revival), but you're going to need to come to grips with the biggest shift in what is or isn't canon since Not Fade Away.

This Wiki has about a year or so before it will be completely out-of-date if you refuse to acknowledge the third canonical show.

There's no way for the new show to keep to that continuity for many reasons; most importantly, that only a minuscule percentage of the intended viewership for the new Hulu/Disney+ show even know they exist, much less what's in them.

What has happened to Buffy in the last two decades and the aftermath of the Chosen spell will decide very quickly that the two continuities don't mesh. Chosen (hopefully somebody on the writing staff has seen up to Not Fade Away) is likely the last part of the continuity that will have any impact on the story going forward outside of following the new characters. Up to Not Fade Away is the only continuity these writers will ever care to adhere to. The rest is now gone like Star Wars Legends before it.
