Buffy was inspired by Joss Whedon wanting to have the blonde girl who was always killed at the beginning of horror movies be the one who saves the day. He was inspired by Night of the Comet especially.
Like They Said Joss Turned The Usual Victim/Damsel In Distress In To The Hero And That's How Buffy Was Born The Movie Came Out 1992 And The Tv Series Started In 1997 So She's Been Around A Long Time:-)
