What was the inspiration for Buffy? From what I can tell I think it is based loosely on the vampires diaries books.
Buffy was inspired by Joss Whedon wanting to have the blonde girl who was always killed at the beginning of horror movies be the one who saves the day. He was inspired by Night of the Comet especially.
